Jack Markman

* 8 years managing at Kim's Academy of TaeKwonDo schools in Utah

*Translator for the Korean Olympic Speed Skating teams for the past 8 years. Olympics, World Championships, and World Cup competitions.



Ian Staley

Head Instructor

* World Martial Arts Championships Gold Medalist in Olympic Sparring, Bronze Medalist in Traditional Forms.
*3 time Utah State Champion in Forms and Olympic Sparring.
* Competed in numerous tournaments since age 12.
* Started TKD at age 9.
* Currently a student at Salt Lake Community College.
* Loves long walks on the beach ;)



Hillary Wilkins
4th Degree Black Belt
Master Instructor
Master Hillary Wilkins started Taekwondo in
1996 at the age of 14 at Kim's Academy of
Taekwondo, Centerville under Grandmaster
Kim. In June 2008 she passed her test and
earned her 4th Dan black belt and the title of
Junior Master. She continues to train to make
herself the strong both mind and body, both
inside the studio and out.
She has taught at Kim's Academy of
Taekwondo, Centerville for 8 years and the last
couple were spent as head instructor. She
loves working with students and helping them
to do their best and succeed at all both in
Taekwondo and in their life. Master Wilkins received her 4th Dan Kukkiwon certification in 2009. She also trains in the Korean sword art and is a 1st Dan black belt in Haidong Gumdo. In 2004 she competed in the World Haidong Gumdo
Championship. She earned her B.S. Degree from the University of Utah in Exercise and Sport
Science and is currently working on her
Masters degree in Sports Psychology.


Derek Markman
3rd Degree Black Belt
Instructor
Derek was born in New York, NY and started TKD at age 5. He has been instructing at KATKD for 5 years now. Derek is a member our our Hwarang
Demonstration Team and has perfected his 540 degree spinning board break. He has a passion for bass guitar and plays in his band every chance he gets. Derek also teaches guitar on the other side of the school at Dr. Miya’ s School of Music. He’ s always in search of new students to teach. Derek has a love for good Japanese food and enjoys being teased by Mr. Dutson on a daily basis.


Kameron Hadlock
3rd Degree Black Belt
Instructor
Mr. Hadlock is 17 years old and attends school at Jordan High. Kameron has been a student at KATKD since he was 10 years old, and has been teaching TKD for 5 years now. Kameron loves sparring and has competed in traditional forms
and Olympic sparring for many years. He won a silver medal at the 2005 World Martial Arts Championships in Las Vegas. He is also a Utah State champion. Mr. Hadlock plans to go to college and study business. He loves his students and claims to get teased a lot by Mr. Staley.
Kameron also likes spicy food.


Gena Markman
2nd Degree Black Belt
Instructor
Gena has been practicing Taekwondo for about 9 years now. She started training at age 4. Gena was born in Philadelphia, PA. She started entering tournaments at age 10 and became a Utah State
Champion in traditional forms and won a silver medal in Olympic style sparring.
Gena loves her Shar-pei, Suki and hates the smell of apple sauce! Gena has been a big part of our school in helping teach classes, especially our Little Tigers classes. She loves teaching and is a
great role model for all of her students. The little girls in class especially look up to Gena as an instructor and as a person.



Hanna Larsen
2nd Degree Black Belt
Assistant Instructor
Hanna has been doing tae kwon do for 7 years. She is 14 years old and is going into 9th grade at Midvale Middle School.
Hanna won 2nd place in Olympic Sparring at the 2009 USAT Utah State Championships. Outside of Taekwondo she enjoys playing the piano and guitar. She also loves to play with her black
labrador Jasmine. Hanna is in the ALPS Program(advanced learning program) at Midvale Middle School. She has been in the program
since 3rd grade. She is also in The National Junior Honor Society at Midvale Middle.

Eric Robinson

Erik has been doing Tae Kwon Do for about eight years, and has taught for about six years since he got his black belt at age 13. He has also enjoyed TKD with his father, Spencer, who has trained for
about six years. One of Erik's strengths is in forms, which has helped him to be a two-time AAU state champion. One of his other hobbies is artwork, specifically drawing with pencil or colored pencil, or just anything he can create a lot of detail with. His artwork has won awards and has been displayed in the Springville Art Museum. He plans to return to BYU when he returns home from his LDS mission, and has considered minoring in art. He is currently serving an LDS mission in
the Belgium Brussels/Netherlands speaking Dutch.


Taylor Robbins
3rd Degree Black Belt
Assistant Instructor
Taylor has been practicing TKD since he was 4 year old. He has been an assistant instructor at KATKD for 3 years. He enjoys working with the kids and helping them reach their goals. Taylor has been a member of our Hwarang Demo Team for 2 years. He says he enjoys it because it's a unique way of expressing TKD and showing others what we are all capable of. Outside of TKD he enjoys other sports, especially football. He is a die-hard Utah Utes and Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoys basketball, golf and is on the track and cross-country team for Brighton H.S. He is a member of an airsofting team called SOCE (Special Operations Combat Elite) which travels the valley and plays other teams in Utah. Taylor is also in the Civil Air Patrol which is the auxiliary of the Air Force. He's even flown a glider plane. He enjoys playing XBox with his little brother Trace, being with family, haning out with friends, eating seafood, and Dr. Pepper. Taylor is also proud that he is 1/4 Greek. OPA!!



Spencer Robinson

* His greatest joy as an instructor is seeing a student’ s hard work result in mastery of a form, onestep sparring, or breaking technique.
*In his life away from KATKD, Mr. Robinson is a
husband, father of three wonderful children, and an attorney in private practice.
